For Sale By Owner ? 1971 Corvette Red/Red Coupe
I have owned this beautiful car since 1993. It has always been a ?fair weather? driver and kept in a climate controlled garage. A total, 3 year restoration project was completed in 2009. Everything on the car was rebuilt, refurbished or replaced. The car has been driven less than 2000 miles since being restored.
The car has power steering, power brakes, tilt/tele steering column and factory air conditioning. A complete rebuild and/or recondition was done on the suspension, cooling, brake and electrical systems. Improvements were made to all of these areas. The steering has been converted to a ?rack and pinion? type. The car has four new BFG 255/60 radial T/A tires on original rally wheels plus a matching spare, sized to fit in the undercar carrier.
The car is painted (base/clear) in the correct Mille Miglia red. The frame and underbody are also painted and detailed. All weather-stripping is new. The bumpers have been re-chromed. The interior has been upgraded with leather upholstery, new seat foam, cut pile carpet, heat and sound insulation, new deluxe door panels and dash pads. All of the instrument panel gauges were professionally restored. The radio was replaced with a Pioneer CD player unit.
The drivetrain consists of a balanced and blue printed 383 cubic inch small block and a Tremec TKO 600 manual 5 speed transmission. The bellhousing, flywheel and clutch are new. The differential is a 3.36 positraction unit.
The engine has a 4 bolt main block, aftermarket cast iron heads with stainless steel valves, screw in studs and roller tip rockers, Comp Cam hydraulic camshaft, high volume oil pump, Wieand aluminum intake with a 770 Holley Street Avenger, Edelbrock aluminum high volume water pump, and a performance HEI ignition system. The engine has stock cast iron exhaust manifolds and runs fine on pump gas. The exhaust is a 2
inch Magnaflow system with stainless mufflers.
The radiator has been replaced with an aftermarket aluminum unit with two electric fans.
The rear trailing arms and the half shafts have been rebuilt. The rear spring was replaced with a fiberglass mono-spring. A rear stabilizer bar was added. The front, upper control arms were replaced with aftermarket tubular units. All rubber suspension bushings have been replaced with polyurethane pieces. The shocks are Bilstein units.
A complete restoration history and photos are available.
